Dr. Jaiteerth R. Joshi, Outstanding Scientist, has assumed charge as the new Director General (DG) of BrahMos, DRDO and CEO & MD of BrahMos Aerospace from 1st Dec 2024.
Dr. Joshi has a unique distinction of rendering leadership in design, development, strategic planning & production of tactical missile systems of the country. He led various initiatives in the Joint development of Medium Range Surface to Air Missile.
As Programme Director, LRSAM, Dr. Joshi has extensively contributed towards design, development and induction of indigenous missile programme and as Project Director he has successfully bolstered the defence capabilities of Indigenous Aircraft Carrier with LRSAM Missiles.
His sustained R&D contributions and technology leadership over the last three decades has been transformative for making India self-reliant in advanced missile systems and technologies.
His contributions strengthened the Defence R&D at the national level through collaborative research involving academia, industry and R&D institutions providing thrust to the defence manufacturing capabilities. As AICTE-INAE Distinguished Visiting Professor, Dr. Joshi has significantly contributed in skill development of engineering students to harness their potential.
Dr. Joshi is President-Elect, ISNT and as Chairman, Indian Society for Non-destructive Testing (ISNT), he has trained and certified large number of candidates in Level-I and Level-II of Radiography, Ultrasonic, Magnetic Particle & Penetrant Testing and trained Welding professionals as a part of his Chairmanship of Indian Institute of Welding (IIW).
For his distinguished contributions towards Defence R&D, he has been conferred with many awards and honors from various organizations and professional bodies including Distinguished NDT'ian of the decade by ISNT, National Technology Day Award by DRDO, IIM SAIL Gold Medal by IIM, Scientist of the Year Award by DRDO, Bharat Ratna Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya Award by Institute of Engineers, Manager of the Year Award by HMA, Dr. N. Kondal Rao Memorial Award by ISNT, Distinguished Alumnus Award (DAA) of National Institute of Technology, Warangal.
He is a Fellow of Indian National Academy Engineering (FNAE), Telangana Academy of Sciences (TAS), Indian Society for Non-destructive Testing (ISNT), Indian Institute of Metals (IIM), Institution of Engineers India (IEI), Indian Society for Mechanical Engineers (ISME) and Indian Institution of Production Engineers (IIPE).
He has published several research papers in leading journals and delivered keynote addresses and guest lectures in many conferences & academic institutions.
Shri. A Joseph after retirement from DRDO as Distinguished Scientist and Programme Director, joined as Managing Director of BrahMos Aerospace Thiruvananthapuram Limited (BATL) from March 2022 onwards. He is B.Sc. (Engg.) in Mechanical Engineering from TKM College of Engineering, Kerala University in 1984 and Masters in Mechanical Engineering (Machine Design) from IIT Madras, Chennai in 1997.
Started his career as Design Engineer at ACC BABCOCK Ltd, Durgapur West Bengal (1984-1987). He has vast experience of 34 years with DRDO.
In 1991, moved to DRDL, a premier lab engaged in the design & development of various types of Missile Systems for Indian Defence and worked under astute guidance of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam. He joined DRDO as Scientist ‘B’ at CVRDE, Avadi, Madras involved in the design and development of Battle Tank variants. Involved in the design and development of various types of Missile Systems. Served in various capacities; Project Engr, Project Manager, Project Director and finally as Programme Director. Also received number of awards at DRDO level for the development and Induction of Missile systems
Shri. Ummalaneni Raja Babu, Distinguished Scientist has been appointed as DG(MSS) on 31st May 2023. He handled the responsibilities of Programme Director, AD and Director, Research Centre Imarat(RCI), Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Missile Complex, DRDO, Hyderabad, prior to assuming charge as Director General (Missiles & Strategic Systems).
Shri. Raja Babu is widely known for his significant contributions as Programme Director, Area Defence (AD) and technology leadership in the design, development and successful demonstration of Ballistic Missile Defence capabilities. As one of the main architects, he led “Mission Shakti”, India’s first Anti-Satellite Missile Test (ASAT) demonstrating the space defence capabilities of India based on BMD technologies.
He started his career with Indian Air Force and subsequently joined DRDO in 1995 and played a decisive role in the development and induction of enhanced range Prithvi missile system. As Director, Research Centre Imarat(RCI), an avionics laboratory of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Missile Complex he steered the design, development and delivery of Avionics and wide range of missiles & guided weapon systems for defence and aerospace applications in India. His sustained R&D contributions have been transformative for indigenization of critical Missile and Aerospace technologies and has strengthened defence industry eco-system in the country.
As a team leader he has been conferred with Path Breaking Research & Outstanding Technology Development Award for successfully leading the demonstration of Mission Shakti. Other prestigious awards conferred on Shri. Raja Babu includes Agni Award for Excellence in Self-reliance, DRDO Scientist of the Year, Vigyan Pratibha Puraskar and PMA Project Leader Award. He is a Fellow of Institution of Engineers and Life Member of many professional societies.
Shri. Srinivasulu Nuka, former Director (Finance) of Bharat Dynamics Limited. He is having rich and vast experience of more than 33 years in various facets of Finance and Accounts, Human Resource functions.
Graduated in commerce from Osmania University in 1984 and MBA from Osmania University in 1987.
He has core expertise in finance and accounts, treasury management, taxation, IPO, budgetary control and performance management, regulatory compliance and policy formulations. Hands on experience in formulation and implementation of various policies in Corporate including pricing & export policy, Dividend distribution & investment policies, land policy, recruitment & promotion policies, CSR and SD policies, policies on PRP, Pension scheme, medical scheme for superannuated staff and officers.
Dr. M Arumugam is an Outstanding Scientist and currently Deputy Director, Materials and Manufacturing Entity LPSC (ISRO), responsible for the realization of all Materials and hardware sub-systems of Liquid, Cryo and Semicryo Propulsion systems required for Indian Space Program. Currently he is focusing on the development and realization of Semicryo engine subsystems and the Lox-Methane engine and tankages required for New generation Launch vehicle.
He has more than 3 decades of experience in QC, QA and NDE of Solid, Liquid and Cryo Propulsion systems. Till July’ 2022, he was the Group Director, responsible for Quality Control and NDE of all materials and hardware used in various Liquid and Cryogenic engine propulsion systems. Subsequently he was responsible for the fabrication of Semicryo engine sub systems and stages. He is the Chairman of Inter-centre NDE Committee. In this capacity, he has contributed in resolving many critical issues by which the success of the mission was ensured.
His noteworthy contributions are: Defect analysis in Chandrayaan-1- Maraging steel Motor case; S200 propellant cast motor case for Static test; Assessment of Maraging steel bolts-SCC in LvM3 Ex mission; Resolving the Cracking problem in 2.5T Propellant mixer shaft for SDSC. Analysis of Vikas Engine Silica Phenolic throat debond; Assessment of Aluminium bronze raw materials used in various flights including Chandrayaan-3 and the latest one is crack assessment in CUS 14-LOX Tank- Manhole cover weld joint which was successfully repaired and flown. He had significantly contributed in salvaging the largest Semicryo thrust chamber segment and Main turbine stator.
He had also contributed in evolving the Specifications for India’s prestigious Gaganyaan mission. He played a vital role in Indigenisation of various metallic raw materials and systems more specifically Aluminium alloy products for which he had undergone training at NOVELIS, France during 2008. He had generated many NDT procedures and Acceptance criteria for Pressure vessels, Investment castings & Raw materials for satellite launch vehicle programme. He had served as an Expert member in “BrahMos” missile Attestation committee for Indigenisation of Materials. He had played a key role in establishing world class QC and Inspection facilities at LPSC, more specifically in improving the NDE capabilities including Computed Tomography facility.
He is a Member of Bureau of Indian Standards – in NDE Sectional committee. He has delivered an Invited talk on “Computed Tomography” at 16th Global X-Ray and CT forum at Hanover, Germany in 2019. He has been delivering lectures to cover the NDT portion of the curriculum for B.Tech, M.Tech and PhD students of NIT, Trichirappalli, from 2014.

• Member of Board of studies, B.Tech, META programme, NIT, Trichy.
He is basically a Metallurgical Engineer from University of Madras, MS from BITS, Pilani and PhD in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering from NIT, Thiruchirappalli. He has published more than 60 research papers in National, International Journals and Conferences.
He was awarded the National NDT Award for Excellence in NDT- in Industries in 2015. In recognition to his outstanding contributions in Metallurgy and NDT, ISRO had awarded group awards in 2015, 2012 and 2009. He had secured State level 2nd Prize for his BE Thesis “Estimation of Grain size using Ultrasonics” from Directorate of Technical Education, TN in 1987.
Shri. S Harikishore, an IAS officer from the 2008 Kerala cadre, holds a B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from Government Engineering College, Kannur, and an M.Tech in Material Science and Metallurgy from IIT Kanpur. He has held various notable roles including District Collector of Pathanamthitta, Executive Director of Kudumbashree, CEO of Life Mission, and Director of PRD. Currently, he serves as Managing Director of KSIDC, Secretary of I&PRD, PIEMD, and Special Officer of the Plantation Department. He is also an author and has received numerous awards for his contributions to public service, women's empowerment, and e-governance. Harikishore IAS, a distinguished public servant, has authored two books, "Ningalkkum IAS Nedam" and "Unnathavijayathinu Ezhu Vazhikal," and has been recognized as the Best District Collector of Pathanamthitta. He has also been honored for his work under the DAY NRLM program and awarded for his contributions to e-governance and women's empowerment initiatives, highlighting his dedication to public service and commitment to improving the lives of citizens.
