The company was incorporated in the year 1989 and commercial operations commenced in the year 1994. The company, formerly known as Kerala Hitech Industries Limited (KELTEC) was promoted by Government of Kerala as State PSU. The company’s primary goal was development and production of critical hardware for the space program.
Subsequently, the company was handed over to BrahMos Aerospace Private Limited (BAPL), a JV under DRDO in January 2008 and rechristened as BrahMos Aerospace Thiruvananthapuram Ltd (BATL). The company ceased as State PSU and became a wholly owned subsidiary of BrahMos Aerospace Private Limited (BAPL).
Considering the vital nature of the industry, Prime Minister visited the company in the year 2011. DRDO funded Missile Integration Complex at the campus commenced the operations as GOCO model from 2014. The company is now having state-of-the-art facilities to cater the requirements in strategic projects like defence, aerospace and nuclear sectors. During the year 2017 onwards, the company has ventured into export business and widened the sphere of operations.
